What is BOPP film?
BOPP stands for biaxially oriented polypropylene, one of the most widely used packaging films in the world. During production the polypropylene film is stretched both lengthwise and crosswise (biaxially oriented), which gives BOPP film its characteristic combination of high clarity, strength, stiffness and an excellent moisture barrier at low weight.
What properties does BOPP have?
BOPP film is high-clarity to glass-clear, tear-resistant, dimensionally stable and moisture-tight. It prints excellently in gravure and flexo, laminates well and, depending on the type, heat-seals on one or both sides. These properties make BOPP the first choice for packaging that must combine product protection with attractive presentation.
Which BOPP types are there?
BOPP films are available transparent, white-opaque, matt and metallised. Transparent BOPP gives a glass-clear view of the product, white and matt variants present brands elegantly, and metallised BOPP offers additional barrier and a premium, glossy look. Heat-sealable BOPP types are tuned for fast packaging lines.
What is BOPP film used for?
BOPP film is mainly used for flow-wrap and pillow-pack packaging, labels, sleeves, laminates and food packaging. Typical applications are bakery, snacks, confectionery, fruit and vegetables as well as non-food products. With printing, lamination and perforation the film can be matched precisely to any application.
