Why CPP and PE Film?

Why CPP and PE Film?

CPP and PE are the sealing films of the packaging industry. Both can be reliably heat-sealed at low temperatures and are soft, cold-impact-resistant and tear-resistant. CPP offers higher transparency and rigidity, while PE offers greater flexibility and cold resistance. As a mono film or sealing layer in laminates, they provide tight, robust packaging.

  • Heat-sealable with high seal strength, also available peelable
  • Cold-impact-resistant and freezer-safe down to minus 40 degrees
  • Usable as a mono film or sealing layer in laminate films

Bread & Baked Goods

CPP and PE bag films for bread, rolls and toast, transparent, micro-perforated and with a secure seal seam.

Frozen Food

Cold-impact-resistant PE and CPP films for frozen vegetables, chips and ready meals, tear-resistant down to minus 40 degrees.

Laminates & Composites

CPP and PE as the sealing layer in laminate films with BOPP, PET or aluminium for snacks, coffee and nuts.

Fruit & Vegetables

Micro-perforated CPP and PE films for breathable fresh packaging of lettuce, cucumbers and herbs.

Bags & Tubular Film

Gusseted, flat and stand-up pouches as well as centre-folded film made of CPP or PE, printed and made to custom specification.

Non-Food & Technical

PE and CPP films for hygiene products, textiles and technical products, soft, heat-sealable and robust.

What Are CPP and PE Films?

CPP film is cast polypropylene, a non-oriented polypropylene film produced by the casting process. PE film is made of polyethylene, usually as LDPE or LLDPE. Both films are soft, transparent and, above all, heat-sealable, which is why they are among the most widely used packaging materials as bag film and as a sealing layer in laminate films.

What Properties Do CPP and PE Have?

CPP film is crystal clear, glossy, more rigid than PE and offers good moisture barrier properties. It is freezer-safe and can be sealed at low temperature with high seal strength. PE film is particularly flexible, cold-impact-resistant and stretches under tension. Both materials are food-contact compliant to EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011 and can be printed by rotogravure and flexographic printing.

What CPP and PE Types Are Available?

CPP films are available transparent, white opaque, metallised and peelable. PE films are supplied transparent or white, as a mono or coextruded film. For laminates, CPP and PE serve as the sealing layer behind printed BOPP, PET or aluminium.

What Are CPP and PE Films Used For?

Typical applications include bread and baked goods bags, frozen food packaging, micro-perforated fresh films for fruit and vegetables, gusseted and stand-up pouches, centre-folded film, and the sealing layer in snack, coffee and nut packaging. Hygiene products and technical products are also packaged in PE and CPP.
